The
orchestra, as understood as an organised unit, well defined and
everyone taking part, was already known in the 1600s in its ‘concerto’
form and could include one or more soloists.
The soloist repertoire
therefore grew in size and became extremely important because all
the great composers have written for this musical form.
The cost for famous or
well known soloists, to which we cannot aspire in our programmes,
begins at thousands of euro increasing to tens of thousands of euro:
virtuosi of an instrument or singers or étoile.
